   The lyrics suggest the use of violence to protect his (the "angel")loved one. Hence "angel" pure, innocence and referring to such a person, and "shotgun" a violent a brutal weapon used to kill. "Don't you know you're everything I have" makes the person want to protect the person with any means necessary and will fight for the love.
