The Cure: The Lovecats Meaning
The Lovecats Lyrics
We couldn't get closer than this
The way we walk
The way we talk
The way we stalk
The way we kiss
We slip through the streets
While everyone sleeps
Getting bigger and sleeker
And wider and brighter
We bite...

Isn't it "so wonderfully, wonderfully, wonderfully pretty!".
Anyway, apparently this song was written because Rob got sick of them being called a goth band, it was a big hit for them and when they got that sucess, well you probably know the lovecats has always stuck with them and i think he sort of resented this song and withdrew from it. Maybe this is why End from the album wish brings in words like "please stop loving me, i am none of these things" -
I always thought it was just like a love song except likening them both to cats . . Dunno what it means by throwing all the songs they know into the sea.

I saw an interview were Robert Smith stated he got the idea for the song when he heard a story about someone who took their newborn kittens, tied them in a bag, and threw it in the river. He was astounded by the absurdity of that idea and couldn't get it out of his head.

This is by far my favorite cure song, aka my Screen name.
This was initially written as a parody. Robert Smith later distanced himself from the song.
If you know, however what it is a parody of, or more info of the song, please post.
