The Killers: Leave The Bourbon On The Shelf Meaning
Leave The Bourbon On The Shelf Lyrics
Got a new place, this is how it's so much better.
Falling over myself, the televisions on,
I turn it off and smile.
Oh, Jennifer, you know I've always tried.
Before you say goodbye
Leave the...

Umm... You guys sometimes are impossible.
This clearly tells the story of a Man going through a break up that he doesn't want to go through, and has a result he uses alcohol to cope through. (Leave the bourbon on the shelf, I'll drink it by myself,I love you endlessly, darling don't you see I'm not satisfied till your by my side?) Duh. -
I agree with paigeyxxpie, I heard Brandon telling the same thing in an interview about this song before the album went on sale. for me the best song of the third album, has a very cool intro.

Okay. I've only heard this song once or twice ... mainly because I haven't bought the album yet. Oops.
I think this song is about two people on the brink of a breakup. They both know the inevitability of it, but the guy is trying to hold on in a chance that everything will work out despite her indiscretions. Maybe he is desperate and does not want to face life alone because of his burgeoning psychological problems.
He is saying that he always tried and that he wants to make it right, but she already has one foot out the door. She knows that it is over and that she has never possessed the quality to be monogamous.
He is not satisfied and feels that he will never be until he can hold her again. The singer (loosely Andy) knows that his heart is breaking as she leaves and does not know how to deal with it. Maybe that's what it is. Not too sure. Guess I'll have to listen to the song a few more times ... -
I'm pretty sure this song is one of three songs telling the story about how a guy kills his girlfriend. The other two songs in the story are midnight show and jenny was a friend of mine.

Ok, For the 1st time reading the lyrics and not actually listening to the song fully, I somewhat have a bit of an interpretation of the song, so here it is.
It starts off as the boyfriend or whatever is being left from his girlfriend. He tells her to wait and that he just wants to hold her and yet he tries so hard but she already said she leaving so he says he will love her endlessly. The part where he wants to hold her is a trick for he is not "satisfied"- satisfied as in he is not finished with the relationship and the only way for him to hold her or to make her stay, he tells he to wait until that night, and which to make it "right"- and that "right" is to continue the relationship (even though she wants it to end)against her wishes aka-dead.
Just a little known fact-I had to edit this thing for over a fucking hour and some parts might not seem understanding, just bear with me okay?. So, in reality it's kinda like what some serial killers might say to lure their victims into traps. So...umm...yea.
