   The 'kid' ('my only kid') is the inner child of an abused person. One never outgrows child abuse. "How can I explain when you don't want me to" is about being unable to confront the past. Their mood is shared because they're one person.

   Christie told me it was about a British girl who was a stripper that used the $$$ to provide food and rent for her heroin-addicted boyfriend and was written for them: a true story. The girl was deeply in love with her boyfriend, and was ashamed of how she had to earn $$$ for them.

   It's about one of her guitarists at the time, which one I can't remember now. Both went on to die of overdoses.

   I think this song is about her kid getting to the age- probably teen years- and not getting either why she has to be on her job so much because she's so famous or her kid just doesn't understand his/her life as a child of someone famous..
