The Spill Canvas: Bound to Happen Meaning
Bound to Happen Lyrics
Until today you held your place
Now you're shifting like the sand
Your chest would heave with pride if I were spoken of
'Till tonight I never knew the difference between comfort and love
Although...

This song I think is about a couple who have been in a pretty long relationship. They may have rushed into things a little too fast in the beginning thinking they were the "ones" for each other. But later finding that they were wrong. "although you're sleeping right next to me/well, it feels like you are wide awake in a distant dream" the obviously don't have the passion in their relationship that they once had before. Although they sleep in the same bed, they are worlds apart on a more deeper level. "These endless nights and countless fights that turn us into/who we hate to be" they have arguments and fight with one another but that is not what they want to turn into. They don't want to be mad at each other and have conflict between them. "I know we tried so hard, there's just no hope for us" nothing they do can save their relationship now. They just want it to end and be done without either of them getting anymore hurt. "all my walking, talking, sleeping, breathing nothing will ever be the same" this split will leave an emotional scar on both of them for the rest of their lives.
(sort of a unique song if you think about it. There are no real bad feelings here. Just a mutual want to eand a relationship without any emotional pain) -
This song is about a long term relationship that basically got old. The couple has just fallin out of intrest with one another. They still care, but it may not be the kind of love they use to once have. So with the bond they use to share, the end of the relationship was hard to just drop. It is now hard to just go about there days apart, and not come home to one another. But they still think highly of eachother, they just never expected it to end like that.
