Thriving Ivory: Angels on the Moon Meaning
Song Released: 2008
Angels on the Moon Lyrics
So tell me your name
Do you care about all the little things
or anything at all?
I wanna feel, all the chemicals inside
I wanna feel
I wanna sunburn, just to know that I'm alive
To know I'm...
-
Its about the bravest that went unknowingly into the towers. They didn't know they were going too die!! Its a song of respect for those that gave their lives...

Do you dream that the world will know your name?
So tell me your name
(Tell me your dreams, I will help you make them happen.)
Do you care about all the little things
or anything at all?
(Do you care about the little things in life, heck, do you care about anything?)
I wanna feel, all the chemicals inside
I wanna feel
(I want to feel the emotion that I cannot feel)
I wanna sunburn, just to know that I'm alive
To know I'm alive
(I cannot feel emotion, so I want to feel sunburn so I can know that I'm alive)
Don't tell me if I'm dying
'Cause I don't wanna know
(If I'm dying don't tell me, it would bring me down even more)
If I can't see the sun, maybe I should go
(If I can't see the brightside of life, maybe I should die)
Don't wake me 'cause I'm dreaming
Of angels on the moon
Where everyone you know
Never leaves too soon
(I’m thinking of somewhere perfect, don’t disturb me. It is better then the world we live in, & the people you care about never leave)
Do you believe, in the day that you were born
Tell me do you believe?
(Do you believe that you have a purpose and are needed?)
Do you know, that everyday's the first
Of the rest of your life?
(Life is short, live now before it's too late.)
Chorus
This is to one last day in the shadows
(This is my last day living like this. Tomorrow I will see the brightside)
And to know a brother's love
(you are loved)
This is to New York City angels
(this is to those who are willing to risk their lives for you)
And the rivers of our blood
(This is to how much we would give to help you see the brightside)
This is to all of us
To all of us
(This is for everyone, we all deserve to see the brightside.)
Chorus
You can tell me all your thoughts
About the stars that fill polluted skies
(You can talk to me about anything at all. Even the bad things, that you are ashamed of.)
And show me where you run to
When no one's left to take your side
(You can run to me, I will always be here. Even when everyone else is gone.)
But don't tell me where the road ends
'Cause I just don't wanna know
No I don't wanna know
(Just don't tell me when death is coming, I want to focus on the brightside.)
Don't tell me if I'm dying
Don't tell me if I'm dying -
I think it's about a couple-or family/friends-who knows someone is ill. It is in the sick person's point of view. They don't know if it's fatal and they don't want to know. They want to spend forever with their 'angel on the moon' as if nothing was wrong.

What I get out of the song is to live every day with fervor as if it will be your last. I also take it to say not to fear your own mortality, but to be thankful for every breath you are given. I also take it to mean that we all go through tribulations and tragedies, but it's the small, seemingly trivial things that often actually turn out to mean the most.
It seems to be an incredibly emotional song, which many interpretations could be derived from.
Looking at it from another perspective, based off the lyrics of the song, it's as if he enjoys fantasy rather than the real world.
