Tracy Lawrence: Paint Me A Birmingham Meaning
Song Released: 2003
Paint Me A Birmingham Lyrics
Paintin’ waves as they danced, upon the sand
With every stroke, he brought to life
The deep blue of the ocean, against the mornin’ sky
I asked him if he only painted ocean scenes
He said for twenty...

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

Birmingham Painting is a company that is established that paints home to look like new. They were first established during the depression and is still going strong today. They use the finest in paint products and offer the best quality service.......
The narrator describes an encounter on the beach with an artist who is painting ocean scenes. The singer then asks the painter to paint a picture of the plans that the man and his lost lover had actually made:
"Paint me a Birmingham
Make it look just the way I planned
A little house on the edge of town
Porch goin' all the way around
Put her there in the front yard swing
Cotton dress, make it early spring
For awhile she'll be mine again
If you can paint me a Birmingham." -
I looked it up and a birmingham is not a type of painting but a type of house.
-
i thought it was a type of painting but it makes since that its a place i also think some people talking about r getting a little to personally when hearing someone elses openan

You know most big cities can be described as dirty and poor and not just those in the South.
I know Birmingham ,Al can be described as uncultured (Having lived here for 35 years), but that is the way we like it. -
The meaning of the song is so simple I am enjoying reading some of the interpretations. "A Birmingham is a type of painting." "Well anyone who has been to Birmingham Alabama knows he isn't talking about that uncultured city." I don't know how long ago you were there or what part you saw (it is a large town) but the meaning of the song is paint a picture of his love in Birmingham - that's right - Alabama. Just can't stand it can you! He is talking about a picture of his sweetheart from Birmingham, Alabama. Good grief!
-
I think a birmingham is a type of country house. In the song he says "paint me A birmingham" which means it is something. If it were Birmingham, Alabama he wouldn't have used A to describe it. I believe his birmingham was the house on the edge of town that had a porch going all the way around for a wrap around porch.
-
does this song really need an interpretation? Do any country songs? Don't get me wrong i love this song as i do most of Tracy, but country songs are pretty clear cut. Most of them are stories, listen to the story, you have the interpretation right?
-
Canvas of life's self-produced pain.
-
Did she die or just left him
-
I think he is talking about how the love of his life. He wants to be back in her arms again.
-
I heard somewhere that a Birmingham was a type of porch that wrapped completely around a house.
-
Yall that said Birmingham has to do with Alabama are fucked up!!!! a birmingham is a type of painting DUH!
-
Oh my god you guys, a birmingham is A PORTRAIT OF LOST LOVE!
it's a type of painting. -
yall are retarded. Birmingham Alabama!!!! It's where his woman was or is and where he wished that he was. "make it look just the way I planned, little house on the edge of town, porch going all the way around... PUT HER THERE IN THE FRONT YARD SWING" he wants to be in Birmingham Alabama with her. that's what he wants to imagine and what he wants to see in the painting.
