    I think it is talking about a type of painting. if it was talking about a city it would say paint me in birmingham. I think it is talking about a portrait of love not a city of love.

    Someone posted a request asking what a "birmingham" was. Birmingham is a city in Alabama. This was the place where the guy in the song was supposed to settle down with the woman he is referring to.
