X Ambassadors: Love Song Drug Song Meaning
Love Song Drug Song Lyrics
you know this is the last time I
am gonna put you back together.
gonna put you back together.
-
As the parent of a 18-year drug addict, to me these lyrics speak to how many times you try to save your child from addiction. The days of endless detox, the trips to the emergency room, the fears that your adult child's child is living as a 4-year-old adult when her parents are too messed up to be the adult and the fear you have every night before you go to sleep at night that this could be the night your daughter dies or your granddaughter is killed while her parents are driving high on heroin.
There comes a time when you accept the fate of your child, when you can no longer handle saving them again. At this point the battle is only to protect your grandchild. -
I think this song is about having to pick up the pieces of someone's mistakes ie "this is the last time I'm gonna put you back together".
