X Ambassadors: Renegades Meaning
Song Released: 2015
Renegades Lyrics
By X Ambassadors
Run away with me
Lost souls and reverie
Running wild and running free
Two kids, you and me
And I say
Hey, hey hey hey
Living like we're renegades
Hey hey hey
Hey hey hey
Living like we're...

#1 top rated interpretation:I believe this song is about breaking the rules and accepting people for who they are at heart! "All hail the new kids" suggests that everyone has felt like an outsider at some point but we learn that it is perfectly okay to be ourselves. "Living like we're renegades"!
P.s. I love this song so much! I did a cover of it. -

#2 top rated interpretation:Using the music video as a guide, the renegades are the people that don't follow the rules of society to tell them how they should act with their disability. The blind rock climbing, amputees lifting weights and wrestling, their keyboards player being a blind musician. They are the renegades by following their dreams and not letting a disability rule their life.

#3 top rated interpretation:Renegades often refer to those who do not bend to the norm of society. We are often so pressured by society and media on how we should fit a certain code. I believe the song is telling us to live like renegades and not bend to the norm. We need to tow our own line and change the status quo like the Spielbergs and the Kubricks even when society want us to be something else.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

Renegade is normally used to describe someone that goes against what we know as the "norm".I doubt that he would be encouraging us to be criminals but more so to not bend with the rules and expectations of society.

Coming from a child with a disability and has fought all odds, I find this song amazing! I truly think the meaning behind this song is that no one can tell someone with a disability they can’t do anything. So they go against all odds and rebel and do what they want to despite their challenges. “All hail the underdogs...”

Well if you dont already know renegade is like a rebel or thief, they do things against the laws. So i think renegades means that they're becoming rebles and such to go against the government and country, since the lyrics are " hey,hey living like we're renegades"
thanks for reading its just my thought so dont judge lol :)
