#1 top rated interpretation:The song shows the thoughts and emotions different members of a family go through when parents divorce. The singer feels unsteady because his family, which is supposed to always be there to catch him when he falls, is now the thing falling apart. The lyrics “if you love me, don’t let go” are the son begging his parents to stay strong because if your parents aren’t strong, how do they expect you to be?

#2 top rated interpretation:I think that the mother of the child is feeling alone and desperate as she is struggling to solve the addictions of the father. The kid thinks the father is fighitng against his alcohol habits instead of abandoning and leaving them behind. Due to these struggles between the couple the child's mental health seems to be severely compromised.
This whole situation seems to have lead to a severe depression in the kid and have suicidal thoughts. I come to this conclusion after listening to the lines "hold on to me cause I'm a little unsteady", "mama come here, approach, appear", "Daddy, I'm alone
'Cause this house don't feel like home" and "If you love me, don't let go". The child has suffered loneliness with terrible consequences and this a way to reach for help. -

This song is about a kid who is going through his parents on the verge of divorce, and fighting for them to stay together. It makes me sick to my stomach because I have Autism, and somehow managed to keep my parents together after they almost got divorced when I was in 7th grade, and about 75% of my friend's parents are divorced.
-
This song breaks my heart so bad. I think it is about a failing marriage and he is asking his parents to stay together.
-
This makes me cry because my Grandpa recently died (3 Weeks ago) and I'm only 10 but every time I listen to this song I shed a little tear.
-
that his dad is dying like in the hospital and the mom is at home alone and the dad has to fight when he feel like flying like going up to heaven i guess.or their getting a divorce and hes telling them to fight and that the house does not feel like home.
-
This song reminds me of my life. I have 4 grown kids but one son lives with me after his father just passed away. Hes having a rough time with his own life then his dads gone so he's alittle unsteady. He know I'm sad without his dad so he letting me know I'm lonely but at the same time he's alittle unsteady too. Wanting me to hold on for him because he doesn't want to lose me too. this song hits home . I cry everytime I hear it. Your lost and not sure what to do with everything you feel inside.

That it is about all forms of substance abuse and mental health be it divorce or death in the end all of the above make us all at some point a little Unsteady
-
The younger couple at the diner place is the same couple but older and the guy still has the drinking problem and the woman is upset that he is drinking in front of their son so she sends their son to go to his room to play (I think) and she starts arguing with her husband and so it shows that the parents are going to divorce but the lyrics are saying the child wants them to fight through it and stay together for him and so the son is unsteady because the parents relationship is unsteady.
-
The song is the feelings felt by the brothers (main vocalist & keyboardist) when their parents divorced.
-
i think that the son grows up worrying about the mum and dads relationship and thinks they're gonna split, but then, the other couple (in the video...) are working out the "addiction" but this might be the son and his girlfriend because the car has the same ring, or necklace. (Prediction!!

If you watch the video (Unsteady, X Ambassadors)it shows a woman who's meeting someone at a place, a restaurant or such. Then, there's a father with his son. As they watch the kid playing at the table, the mother cleary there, the father pulls out a bottle of whisky, I think, pours it into his coffee cup(holding coffee) and then it flicks to the man and woman at a restaurant and the man pulls out a "flask" and pours it into HIS coffee and they "toast" and then he drinks some. I think the mom and dad of the son are gonna split, but, the other two are sorting out the addiction, and the woman, unlike the mom, is helping this man get through the addiction. The dad isn't getting any help and, probably, won't. But, if you see, the man at the restaurant is probably the son of the mom and dad, but older. So the son grew up with his father drinking, so he did, too. (This is a guess, that might be the son...)
-
The song deals with him going threw his mom and dad getting a divorce. he is pleading for them to hold on to the memories of him and their family and to fight to keep it alive.
