XTC: The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead Meaning
Song Released: 1992
The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead Lyrics
Spreading wisdom and cash around
Fed the starving and housed the poor
Showed the vatican what golds for
But he made too many enemies
Of the people who would keep us on our knees
Hooray for peter pumpkin
Wholl...

This song is about Kennedy.

This song could be about Jesus. There are the obvious references, like "had him nailed to a chunk of wood," "Governments who would slur his name," etc. And I think he's saying that although the character was a good person, the government decided that he wasn't, and that official leaders always have to ruin everything.
