Long Distance Runaround Lyrics

Long distance run around
Long time waiting to feel the sound
I still remember the dream there
I still remember the time you said goodbye
Did we really tell lies
Letting in the sunshine
Did we really count to one hundred

Cold summer...

The song is about the Kent State (Ohio) shootings of four students by the National Guard. It is an introspection, and reminiscence about the time.

God speed Chris Squire and R.I.P ''Long Distance Runaround'' is one of my favorite YES songs, a deep song in time that maybe the Stone Masons can relate to this song, sometimes wonder what they felt and thought in their anger and love when they help built the stone Cathedrals a long time ago. But i heard that Jon Anderson, a great and a humble man who wrote and sang this song at the time was searching for some truth, locked in that special moment in time in waiting for some awakening to share his thoughts and feelings in this song that was and is looking for that familiar sound of our soul in God, along with and through the old words of the stone church Cathedrals that we absorbed into our heart and minds and also waiting for the colours of the hot sun to melt our anger with love in the stones that are left behind. Hope you get stronger Jon and feel better. This may be a difficult time for you, the YES band and the family members of Chris Squire who passed away Sunday. My prayers of healing are with you all.
