Adele: Chasing Pavements Meaning
Song Released: 2008
Chasing Pavements Lyrics
Don't need to think it over,
If I'm wrong I am right,
Don't need to look no further,
This ain't lust,
I hope this is love but,
If i tell the world,
I'll never say enough,
Cause it was not said to you,
And that's...
-
My english is not very good ..
But i just interpret it by my own feeling to the song...
I watched the MV.
Does the song means not to play an active roll, to chase the boy she know she's really love, as it has mentioned:This ain't lust, i know this is love.
The MV seems telling when the girl keep cool and not very care for the guy. He chase her. But when she was active, he escape ...
Is this the song chasing pavement about???
This is not a sad interpretation right????
I just feel that.,..because it is my story..
I don't know if Adele wrote with this feeling -
I think this song by Adele called Chasing Pavements is about her liking a guy but he doesn't want 2 be bothered back. She's afraid 2 tell him she has feelings 4 him but he doesn't want 2 tell her he has feelings 4 her too!
-
This song pretty much means that she loves a guy and knows exactly how she feels and that its real. Though, she is debating with herself if she should tell her love or keep it a secret. If she tries to earn the guys love then she is in a sense "chasing pavements" and it may lead nowhere. The guy may not have feelings for her and she may be crushed, but is it really worth the risk of heart break?Or, she should just give up and let it go while wondering what could've been? All her life.
-
Basically saying when following your dreams stuff will get in your way but don't give up.
-
I think "chasing pavements" mean going after someone who could not reciprocate what you're feeling. the idea of pavements being hard and unmoving could be compared to a man who simply does not feel the same way as you do.
-
I think the words "chasing pavements" in this song mean going after something even though it will be useless. She knows she's in love but that it will nevr rlly last so she's just chasing something that will lead nowhere
-
Chasing pavements is about trying to figure out whether he really likes you or if it's just gonna be a waste of time and get nowhere
Verse one:
"I've made up my mind, don't need to think It over, if Im wrong, I am right, don't need to look no further: this ain't lust, I know this is love." means that she's 100% sure that what she feels for this guy is love.
"but If I tell the world, I'll never say enough, cause it was not said to you, and that's exactly what I need to do, if I end up with you." she's means that there's no point in telling the whole world how she feels, because as long as he doesn't know, they can't get anywhere in their relationship.
Chorus:
"should I give up, or should I just keep chasing pavements? Even if it leads nowhere" means that she's contemplating whether or not this relationship is going to be real, or if she should just give up.
"Would It be a waste? Even if I knew my place? Should I leave it there?" she's trying to decide whether shes wasting her time, even though she knows in her heart the answer.
Verse two
"I build myself up, and fly around in circles, waiting as my heart drops, and my back begins to tingle. Finally, could this be it?" she's saying that she thinks it's might be going nowhere (fly around in circles) but is still anticipating him to ask her out (could this be it?" -
As i see it, she is confused on wether to"give up" and let this other girl take this guy she likes but is to scared to tell or keep "chasing" him and try to tell him she loves him.
Basically, shoud she listen to her head or her heart? -
Chasing pavements is a sweet love song. When adele sing "i made up my mind dont need to think it over" she's saying she knows that she really do love the guy. Then when she gets to the chorus"should i give up or should i just keep chasing pavements even if it leads nowhere" she's saying should i follow my heart or just get on with my life.

A girl loves this boy, who she is close to and is maybe her friend, but she is scared to tell him in case it ruins her friendship, so she is confused on whether to take the risk and tell him she loves him, or to just keep quiet about it.
By taking the other option keeping quiet(chasing pavements) isn't going to lead nowhere, change how she feels. Pavements will never change and neither will her feelings.
So we will never know, if the girl plucked up the courage to tell him or not.
