Alice In Chains: Grind Meaning
Song Released: 1995
Grind Lyrics
Not to plan my funeral before the body dies, yeah
Come the morning light, its a see through show
What you may have heard and what you think you know, yeah
Let the sun never blind your eyes
Let me...
-
All I can say at this point, after having read the previous submissions, is that the lines, "Let the sun never blind your eyes/let me sleep so my teeth won't grind/ hear a sound from a voice within"---these lines, I believe, refer to a problem with methamphetamines. I've spent more than my share of time strung out and banging my head against the wall---and losing teeth for grinding down to the gums. Some of the lyrics to this song seem like non-sequiturs. I love Alice, but some of their lyrics just reveal they've never taken English 101.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

I thinks it's about when layne went missing for a while and rumors started spreading. He writes this to tell the media to leave him alone and to say that the rumors are not true."what you may have heard and what you think you know"

About the issues the band was having, Jerry said so after he wrote it.
-
Think the song means die without any regrets
-
Let the sun never blind your eyes, let me sleep so my teeth won't grind. Mixing it with the video, it seems to me "let me live a life free of regret, and give me the strength to bear my burdens with dignity."
-
"Let me sleep so my teeth don't grind" is possibly a reference to dying with no regrets. This song is definitely about death.
And don't talk about all of the things he did do while he was alive.
