Alice In Chains: Your Decision Meaning

Album cover for Your Decision album cover

Song Released: 2009

Your Decision Lyrics

Time to change has come and gone
Watched your fears become your God

It's your decision
It's your decision

Overwhelmed, you chose to run
Apathetic to the stunned

It's your decision
It's your decision

You feed the fire that burned...

I don't know if anyone else has caught this, but the 'business card' in the video lists the address as "1023 Corinthians drive"

Looking up the corresponding bible verse, 1 Corinthians 10:23

"Everything is permissible"—but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible"—but not everything is constructive."

Just a little hint to the theme behind the song's meaning.

You are all dumb and stupid yet "it'd your decision" on how you interpret the song. I'm a celebrated lyricist, producer, songwriter, and friends within the industry. You all are only giving 'opinions' of your version, which h is "your decision" but you know nothing. Just your interpretation. So it's your decision to be puppets

Its about free will. We make our own decisions and face the consequences of said decisions. Some good, some not.

Cannibalism easy as that! Cannibal Club was and is a big talk item among celebrities around time song was produced! Obvious is an understatement! Geese there is a freaking list at the end of the video showcasing what is on the menu, your name here is your decision. Thus the biblical reference to everything being permissible but should not be done! Long to be rumored a big thing with the illetes and their love of all things forbidden!

William Duvall once said in an interview:"This song is all about choices and their consequences." Duvall and drummer Sean Kinney once stated:"Consequences, you know. It's your decision. You've got to sleep in the bed you make, you know. Things happen, and it's just funny how one little left or right turn in your life can just totally take you off on a tangent that can be so bizarre and unanticipated, you know."

    C. McCormick did you interpret how you perceived the simple but effective lyrics too bland to be serious but creative instead?

It's obviously about women who choose to prostitute themselves for politicians who then use, abuse, OWN AND CONSUME THEM. But GEE that brunette was fucking hot as fuck and I'd eat her asshole out if she wanted me to!

First off, I love this song.

Secondly, I think it's about like some random dream world where there are aluminium butterflies and copper flavoured leprachauns who wear tall hats and come up to you like "A GREETENS WOULD YOU LIKE SOME SILVER???" and then you're like nooo because you want the gold, the proper stuff but he's hiding it all because he's evil on the inside but appears good natured on the outside. He just wants to turn you to the dark side and make you kill Samuel Jackson and his pink lightsaber... I mean really?? Why did he have a pink one :S Seems kinda girly. But either way the Leprachaun kills you.

This song about "Your Decision" that is the title. It is universal. It is about the decisions you make and how it affects everyone not just the one making them. I highly doubt it is about Layne. Every song is not about Layne, nor should it be. I doubt Jerry sits around thinking about songs to write about Layne.

It could possibly be written about Layne's sick addiction, which resulted to his end. In this song Jerry is very emotional about it, as he took on the lead vocal role. In the 1990's his voice was all over the records, even with their new album in Spring of 2013. Layne's death has been very effective to the band, concluding with the abscence of the band from the mid 2000's.

Just wanted to say to the person that wrote on the third spot down that if you seriously "love Layne Stanley" you'd know his last name is Staley. Not Stanley....
