Alice In Chains: Rotten Apple Meaning
Rotten Apple Lyrics
Innocence is over
Over
Ignorance is spoken
Spoken
Confidence is broken
Broken
Sustenance is stolen
Stolen
Arrogance is potent
What I see is unreal
I've written my own part
Eat of the apple, so young
I'm crawling...
-
Screwing up your life early. On a pathway to death leading to rebirth.
-
The song speaks to me as a loss of innocence not specifically drugs but in internal changes whether it be arrogance or ignorance. I think the rotten apple is a term used to represent the apple from the bible tale of adam and eve but this is my interpretation and my beliefs music speaks to other differently and thats what makes it so amazing.

Its like Layne said, our songs are exactly what you want them to be about.
-
I think this song is so great but i think the meaning is when your on drugs like layne it was a relationship with god to be with in harmony,to love,to be u,and to realize what you might have that others will never have. The Peace in this song gives me chills how layne uses his vocals.R.I.P. Layne

This song reminds me of a good relationship between a man and a woman gone bad, and the process of it. My name is Brandan Rock, and this is one of my favorite songs.
-
That's so ashame Layne is my idol I wish I could have saw him live. In his songs he always sounds so sad and lonely.
-
i think it means that since his drug use started wen he was so young that he couldnt escape and it caused him to b like a child again because he was unable to take care of himself because of the drugs
-
I do not know what it means but it seems like a really sad and depressing song everytime i listen to I feel like I'm going to cry. R.I.P. Layne Staley
