What do you think Your Decision means?

Alice In Chains: Your Decision Meaning

Album cover for Your Decision album cover

Song Released: 2009

Your Decision Lyrics

Time to change has come and gone
Watched your fears become your God

It's your decision
It's your decision

Overwhelmed, you chose to run
Apathetic to the stunned

It's your decision
It's your decision

You feed the fire that burned...

The song to me itself speaks about the morality of everything we do in everyday life and how those decisions affect everyone and everything. The line "No one plans to take the path that brings you lower" sums that up meaning that no one ever really intends to do something that would completely turn theirs or someone elses world upside down. It is all about the heat of the moment and what is fun at the time, never thinking of the reprocussions of the choices made

This song is about Layne, and the message is all about it being his choice to do what he had done. At the end of the video, the woman is eating her heart. "It's your decision, so eat your heart out"

I think this song is about drugs and how the character chose to take his own path instead of seeking the help of his true friends/family.

"No one plans to take the path that brings you lower
and here you stand before us all and say its over"

I can relate to this song in a lot of ways. and i agree, very haunting song.

I think this song is about how you have many decisions in life. You can choose to live above society's influence and live life your way or you can fall into society's influence and in this case Layne Stanley did. It's talking about addiction and how it's your decision to be an addict or not. Very very haunting song! <3 r.i.p. Layne Stanley, I love you!!!!

I truly believe its about dealing with the temptation of suicide.

When life seems so low, we decide to choose to end our life or go on. Sometimes when we are at our lowest point in life, even the smallest things seem to feed a fire that burns inside us to end our life.

When you are feeling so low and depressed you feel empty and alone. A blackness shrouds us and the pain that we feel spurs us on to kill ourselves. However, we choose whether or not to end our life. Ultimately we are in control of the decisions we make in life, even when things seem so hopeless and you have been hurt so much we still choose if life is worth going on and whether or not we can battle through it.

The Reason why Cantrell is obviously about Layne Staley's drug addiction and wanted him to change his decisions. "no plans to take the path that leads you nowhere" means drug use and how it affected Alice In Chains.-RIP Layne-
