Backstreet Boys: I Just Want You to Know Meaning
I Just Want You to Know Lyrics
You gave me a smile that I could never forget
And nothing I could do could protect me from you that night
Wrapped around your finger, always on my mind
The days would blend 'cause we stayed up...
-
All the doors are closing I'm tryin' to move ahead (it felt like a church wedding scene, after the bride comes inside, the door is now being closed for the ceremony)
And deep inside I wish it's me instead (I think the writer wishes to be the significant other instead of the new partner)
My dreams are empty from the day
The day you slipped away (the end of a relationship) it's a song of regret. -
It's obviously not a breakup song because he says he wishes it was him instead so that hints at the fact that his girlfriend died.
-
It's about a strong love relationship in which one lover dies 'i wish that I could believe there's a day you'll come back 2 me'nd da other keeps remembering his lover even though he tries 2 4get her the emotions are still strong nd he is completely destroyed 'my dreams are empty from the day, the day you slipped away'.

This song hints the end of the best, most glorious thing that the singer has gotten in one's life; perhaps it was referred to the golden time of the band. Thorough the song, it is mentioned repeatedly that such a thing will never come back. The video clip shows people, other than the BackStreetBoys, singing the lines. It is likely to say that though time can never be turned back, memory stays.
-
It's a classic song of a boy and girl breaking up, and the boy realizes (too late!) that he misses her and wants her back.
-
He still pictures (remembers) the fist time they met and he still remembers her smile, and since then they became together with each other. He couldn't ignore her and this relationship was everything to him. Then they left each other, but everytime he tries to forget her and move on, he just can't. Some days he could fight her out of his mind but some nights he can't because it reminds him of her when they used to "stay up all night". He wants her to know that he can't let her go even if he tries to fake it. He wants her to come back to him.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

This song is definitely about the end of something good, not necessarly a relationship. It could anything: a relationship, good time, school, there is many things and the end could have been a death or whatever the case may be. But it can be bigger than just a relationship, also there is a lot of nice imagery and metaphors in the opening stanza.

My thoughts are that this song is about a person's loss of a boyfriend/girlfriend, not by a breakup, but by death. When they sing "All the doors are closing I'm tryin' to move ahead And deep inside I wish it's me instead
My dreams are empty from the day, the day you slipped away" It makes me think that this person is trying despretly to move on from their lovers death, but just wishes it was themself who "slipped away" instead of their lover... -
Sometimes I think that maybe the other person died because of the "...I wish that it was me instead..." Makes more sense to think the person died...
-
This is about a guy who has ended a relationship with his girlfriend. He still can't get over her and he wants her back. He wants her to know that he doesn't take back the relationship and that if he had the chance, he'd do it all over again, even though he knows the fate of the relationship coming to an end.
