I actually took a different view on this song, and instead of looking at it from a death point of view I saw it as a father singing it to his daughter as he gives her hand away in marriage. He's bascially saying, even though I'm not the only man in your life now, I'll always be here for you and you'll always be daddy's little girl.

This was written in support for Kevin, whose father had died. This pretty much shows how someone feels after their loved one dies
