I'll Be That Girl Lyrics

If I were you (and I wish that I were you)

The song is about a guy who is obsessively in love with a woman who is so vain and in love with herself that the only way for him to get her to pay him the time of day is for him to be her.

"I'll be that girl - and you would be right over" - If he was her, she would come running to him in a heartbeat.

"Perhaps as you I'll be worth noticing" - See above.

"But when at last your beauty's faded you'll be glad that I have waited for you" - Even though she is clearly not interested in him, he is going to wait for her to change her mind.

"If I had a gun, there'd be no tomorrow" - He is so dangerously infatuated with her that her ignoring him is filling his mind with thoughts of suicide.
