Straw Hat And Old Dirty Hank Lyrics

I tend the wheat field that makes your bread

This song is about a man with mental illness that is delusional and thinks he is in a relationship with a famous singer but she never heard of him. In his delusion, everything he does is for her. He took a hatchet to the radio because a DJ insulted her or someone else’s song beat hers or something. He sees a poster he has of hers that is signed w an O and an X as proof that their relationship is real, but people tell him, “that’s just how she signs it” but he refutes it by saying she doesn’t sign her checks that way. It ends with his delusion becoming so great that he is ready to kill her because she has not responded to him and sees it as a slight to him.

I think this song is about a relationship gone awry, and the man singing is trying to do whatever it takes to give his love back to the girl he lost.

relationships that were so much hard work are failed but remnants live on with checks she signs and the remark at the end is very interesting saying he will bring s shotgun and shells...he wants an end to whatever and needs her to end it
