This is pretty simple, blue-collar lower middle class boy falls in love with rich girl, not a whole lot of depth to it at all.

Carls is correct. The Uptown Girl was his former wife (before they married) Christie Brinkley. Ms Brinkley was the "Uptown Girl" in the video of that song.
