Blind Guardian: Harvest of Sorrow Meaning
Harvest of Sorrow Lyrics
The tear maiden will not return
The seal of oblivion is broken
And a pure love's been turned into sin
At the dawn of our living time
Hope may cover all cries
Truth lurks hidden in the shadows
Dreams...

Harvest Of Sorrow is a bonus track on Nightfall in Middle Earth, a concept album consisting of stories from J.R.R. Tolkien's The Silmarillion. In this particular song, Túrin Turambar is mourning the loss of his sister Nienor.
Nienor was put under a curse by the dragon Glaurung and total amnesia overcame her. When attacked by orcs, she fled to the woods and was found by Túrin. Nienor still didn't remember who she was and Túrin never met his second sister. The two eventually fell in love and were married. At the end of the story, Glaurung was defeated and before his death the dragon lifted the curse. Nienor regained her memory and upon the realization that Túrin was her brother, she cast herself over a ravine and died.
