Brand New: Soco Amaretto Lime Meaning
Soco Amaretto Lime Lyrics
Sunday best and broken glass
Broken down from the bikes and bars
Suspended like spirits over speeding cars
You and me were kings over the parkway tonight
And tonight will go on forever while we
walk around this...

#2 top rated interpretation:Jesse lacey grew up on long island as well as myself and the overpass is the ''bride'' where many kids hang out and go throught the woods down to the sand call ed the ''beach'' this is all about having a good time with oyur friends drinking
-
This is just me, but since the first time I heard it, it makes me think it's about a group of kids that went out drinking one night and got in a wreck. Now the ghost is reliving it forever..
(Examples)
Passed out on the overpass
Sunday best and broken glass
Broken down from the bikes
And bars Suspended like spirits
Over speeding cars
You and me were kings over the
Parkway tonight
And tonight will go on forever
While we walk around this town
Like we own the streets
And stay awake through summer
Like we own the heat
-
And when I pass the bottle back
To Pete on the overpass tonight,
I bet we laugh
I'm gonna stay eighteen forever
So we can stay like this forever
And we'll never miss a party
'Cause we keep them going constantly
And we'll never have to listen
To anyone about anything
'Cause it's all been done and
It's all been said
We're the coolest kids and we
Take what we can get
-
Particularly the background bits, they remind me of corpses.
"Cut me open, sun poisoned" (autopsy?)
"New haircut, new bracelet, eyeliner" (Sounds like how they make up a body for a funeral, maybe an ID bracelet?)
And then how it just cuts off like a record skipping at the end? That reminds me of like, a car radio or friends chanting when all the sudden the car veers off the bridge or something..
But this is just the vibe I get.

One could say there are four types of songs on “Ira Imperium”. A first category csoisnts of slow and ominous stompers like the opening “Dies Irae”, the catchy title track and the mystically tinged “Kiss Of Kali”. Secondly we have instantly gratifying scorchers as “Gnosis Of Prometheus”, “77 Days Til Doomsday” and “Amenophis” with their kinetic and magnetic choruses. The third group collects softer and sensual showstoppers for example “Katherine Of Aragon”, “Hollow Eyes Of Nefertiti” and the closing ballad “The Poet Aftermath”. To conclude the band crafted some mini-epics following illustrious figures such as Algerian war icon Abd El-Kader in “Emir Of The Faithful”, nautical hero Odysseus in “Lost Ithaca”/”I Sailed The Seven Seas” and Persian military commander Mardonius in “The Fall Of Mardonius”. The two songs in the middle would both make fine additions to another sea shanty-playlist.

i think its about a relationship when they were young and they didnt wanna grow up. they wanted to stay together forever. everyone was jelous cause they were young and in love. but it didnt last and in the later years they breakup and wanna forget so she is ripping up her photos from the times they spent together
-
this song is simply about growing up. Jesse is reflecting on his childhood and wishes he can live young for forever. This is a brilliant song that can be related to almost anyone's high school experience.
-
its about his friend growing up named pete who got in a drunk driving accident. notice the " and when i pass the bottle back to pete...".
-
nah, you guys are wrong. thats what i thought when i first heard it, but its about two friends who were drinking and rode motorcycles home, died on the way home, and no one has found them. there on the over pass, "suspended like spirits over speeding cars." everything points to it and it gives me chills the entire song.

I think the song's written about summer, but in general, just good times that can be attributed to most other late spring weekend. With suggestions of drinking and late nights fighting sleep, it's putting words to the enjoyment of life and living every moment knowing it can never be revisited and will end, which is shown in the softer lines during the chorus (sun poisoned after months in the sun, new haircut anticipating school) And all the times thereafter.
-
I've always seen this as a song about a couple friends after their senior prom or graduation, and it's their last summer together, so they want to make it last.
In the second verse, he talks about wanting to get out together, the way teenagers always do, and they're getting out together.
The lyrics in the parentheses then shows how things change, and they do grow up and it's over. -
Why do people assume every Brand New/Taking Back Sunday song is a response to the Jesse/John fight?
It's about 2 best friends who used to spend all their time together but then one gets in a relationship and the other one gets left out... "You're just jealous cause we're young and in love" -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
I agree about the having a good time during the summer and everything, but I think the record/abrupt halt to the song represents that it all fades away so suddenly. Sorta like you're having a good time and it just gets ripped away from you out of nowhere.
-
Very much like Taking Back Sunday's song ''...slowdance on the inside'' when they say ''passed out on the over pass sundays best''...taking back sunday says ''passed out in our school clothes so we can wake up in our sunday's best'' at the end of both songs they both shout things BN shout ''your just jealous cause were young and in love'' and TBS shouts this glass house is broken if you want the best I'll stick around''
