Bruce Springsteen: You're Missing Meaning
You're Missing Lyrics
Mama's in the kitchen, baby and all
Everything is everything
Everything is everything
But you're missing
Coffee cups on the counter, jackets on the chair
Papers on the doorstep, you're not...

I think the mailbox is sympathy cards and bills. The song he played on Saturday Night Live and with just a piano was stunning. This song brings me to tears. I know it was written for 911 but I think anyone who lost a loved one can relate. I also love The Nothing Man.

Definitely a song about 911. And a loved one missing. I think the mailbox is all the bills and maybe sympathy cards. I think the person missing never cones home. A beautiful song. Like The Nothing Man from 911.

Could be a song about a woman who is missing?
-
This song is written after Sept 11, 2001. It is telling a story about a family they lost their husband/dad and how they are just hoping that he will just show up eventually and that none of it really happened. It's quite moving if you look deeper into the meaning.
