Christina Aguilera: Hurt Meaning

Album cover for Hurt album cover

Song Released: 2006

Hurt Lyrics

Seems like it was yesterday when I saw your face
You told me how proud you were, but I looked away
If only I knew what I know today
Ooh, ooh

I would hold you in my arms
I would take the pain away
Thank you for all you've done
Forgive all...

i'd just like to say that it doesn't really matter what the song is REALLY about...why don't people just write about what the song means for them....this trying to prove each other wrong nonsense is boring...i think it's beautiful when people can share their piece of experience with the words of music instead of trying to share facts! that's boring...interpretation = open to anything...duh!

I read somewhere that Christina wanted to record a song about the loss of a loved one. So her and Lida Perry wrote this song. Its not actually about anything relating to her. Its just a song that people can listen and relate to about losing someone they love very much. The music video is hyperthetical. She just used the relationship of a father figure and a daughter figure as an example. So I don't think its really about an experience she had.

i know its not the most reliable of sources but its ok.

I believe the song is about her father....it shows in the video and in the use of lyrics....in certain songs she has referred to the abuse they (her mum and herself) suffered until they left him she obviously forgives him for his behavior but because its too late and he's dead....she can't tell him....

It's like she has hurt someone that she loves unintentionally and they've died before she had the chance to apologise. That's the impression that the video gives anyway.

I love this song because we used/played it for my aunt's funeral mass. It made us all cry like crazy...but the song made us realize that she was really gone and that we might of took advantage of her being there. "You don't know what you have till it's gone". I think the song represents real life, we're all human and make mistakes...

I think the song is about her dad....I really like this song...reminds me on my friend who is still waiting for his daughter to contact him....I let him listen to this song the other days, and told him not to wait too long, as it could be too late....you never know what will happen next day.....I hope he will contact her soon...and tell her how proud he is of her and how much he misses her! Thanks for this song......xxx

I think her dad used to beat up her mum or divorced her or broke up the family or something- and she always held the grudge for it, even when he apologised and she was still angry, and then he died, and he would have died with her being angry at him, and she couldn't apologise now he was dead.

Sorry if that didn't make sense, but you get mi point.

BTW: they also spelt 'Aguilera' wrong.

I think that this song is about her boyfriend that died. She thought he was cheating and then he died and she found out he wasn't and now she misses him and feels guilty. All she wants is for him back but she can't get him back anymore

This song is about her dad dying and the last time she saw him, he tryed to tell her that he was proud, but she was too busy to listen. But then she gets news about her dad dying. and she regretted not spending more time with him the last few years. Especially when he was the one cheering her on during the old days when she was just starting out.

Ok if you watch the video it seems to be about her dad who betrayed her in some way and he tried to get her to understand why he did it but she didn't want to know because she was so young. And now because she is older she understands and wishes she had another chance to tell him how much he meant to her.

I think it was actually about her father. In the video it shows a much older man. And she kept trying to get to him. It was like her fame was holding her back from getting to see her father. And when he died she was crushed. Could be. That's just my oppinion. You never know. It might actually be about her boyfriend dying.

I think this song is about how someone(perhaps her boyfriend) died and before that she was mean to him. Because she says" I'd like to look into your eyes and see you looking back" so he's probobly dead and she feels bad that she wasn't a little nicer to him.
