Clutch: 10001110101 Meaning
10001110101 Lyrics
Long halls of science and all the lunatics committed there.
Robot Lords of Tokyo, SMILE TASTE KITTENS
Did you not know that the royal hunting grounds are always forbidden?
Are you rolling...
-
I submit that given the lyricist stated it meant nothing and Clutch’s knack for obscure reference, the Brak Show explanation seems most valid. I’ve never seen the episode but it’s not too far fetched for Neil to have seen the episode long ago (possibly in an altered state of reality), remembered the sequence but not the context. Occam’s Razor in effect... heeey... wait a minute...

It is binary 1000111-d 0101 are the beginnings for the letter n, they just never finished it out. which leads you to believe that they are trying to spell dna since the song mentions "ribo-neuclaic acid" ....... but5 ne ways, don't read so far into it.
-
100 0111 0101:
Taking the least significant four bit segments as a byte we get:
0x74 which as pointed out before is "u" in ASCII
while the most significant byte (00000100) is "$" in ASCII.
So,
$u? -
You fools! The meaning is so obvious! If you illiterate people ever picked up a science notebook, you would discover that "Riboneucleic acid" is an important ingredient in "Deoxyriboneucleia" which is the formula for DNA! Thus, "Riboneucleic acid freak out" is a failed genetic experiment. To look further, we see that "Periodic table with a center peace of mind" is refering to the center element in the periodic table. Rhodium. If found in certain things, Rhodium has strange effects. If found in DNA... who knows. But it's too late! "It's already in the rice." The song is a warning from the only people who can save the world... The martians! To further define the song, "Man alive" means they are attempting to reanimate the dead. He's meddling in God's plan! Splee!

In response to anonymous above, easy to call someone an idiot and a fool when you don't understand what they are saying...
As you said, 10001110101 in decimal (if you take the Least Signifant Bit to be the bit on the left) is:
1 + 16 + 32 + 64 + 256 + 1024 = 1393
However, the convention is to have the LSB on the right (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Least_significant_bit) which is in fact:
1 + 4 + 16 + 32 + 64 + 1024 = 1141
Check it in any calculator that does binary to decimal conversion.
And to previous posters, stating that a binary sequence is not valid because it is not made up of groups of 8 bits (octet = byte) is likewise false. This is the convention used for computers but is not the only way to work with binary. And even if you were following that convention, it is common to leave out the leading zeros - EG: 00000100 would often be written as 100.
For me, I listen to music for entertainment and this song delivers in bucket loads - both the song itself and now this thread :)
Thanks guys. I hope Clutch are keeping an eye on this thread too - it delivers! -

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

Okay well based on the comment about Clutch's Brazenhead, the most simple interpretation of this song is better something than nothing. There are 6 ones (somethings) and 5 zeros (nothings). There. I also like the one about the ancient Sumerian text, and the one about Rush's 2112, and 666, and all that.
-
"Indigenous life must be in agreement
Like one meaning some, and zero meaning nothing"
Taken directly from: Clutch - Brazenhead
some - nothing - nothing - nothing - some - some - some - nothing - some - nothing - some -
Im sorry, but why do people keep discussing it, the singer has already come forward and says it has no meaning..
-
Use the place values from a binary translation table to find element numbers from the periodic table, these will give you an anagram that will reveal the true meaning......
.....
.... That should keep em busy for a while ;-) -

10001110101
1 + 16 + 32 + 64 + 256 + 1024 = 1393
FIGURE IT OUT NOW -
10001110101 has enough decimals to be a telephone number. 1-000-111-0101. who has the guts to call it?
-
I'm not as smart as everyone else above me...so I'm not going to get all scientific..i just think that when you say these numbers in a certain pattern and it sounds amazing and it's catchy.?
