Clutch: 10001110101 Meaning
10001110101 Lyrics
Long halls of science and all the lunatics committed there.
Robot Lords of Tokyo, SMILE TASTE KITTENS
Did you not know that the royal hunting grounds are always forbidden?
Are you rolling...
-
It translates directly to 420.
-
1000111010 which is almost this number (just remove the last 1) is the Unix time stamp for Monday September 10th, 8:36am which is coincidentally EXACTLY 24 hours before the start of the 9/11 attacks.

The song is a Jesus allegory with robots and A.I., and comments on a sci-fi subject as old as the genre. In fact I might go so far as to say it was inspired by Blade Runner if I was more familiar with Blade Runner. I'm not though, so I won't say that.
Here's how I break it down:
First verse is about A.I. approaching and transcending the boundaries of "soul bestowal" for lack of a better term. the last line is "among the metal ones a messenger will soon arrive" and implies a Jesus-type character. "periodic table" being synonymous with synthetic (as robots are) and "center piece of mind," when examined within the context of the robot A.I. concept becomes self explanatory.
The temple of syrinx is synonymous with the powers that be or those in control of society, (in the Rush song the temple acts as the overseer and controller of society) and as newly enlightened robots seek their emancipation, those that rely most heavily on them will put up the biggest fight, i.e. a smear campaign calling the robots radioactive, would fall into the jive and (same old song and dance) lyrics category.
This of course can further be referenced to explain the "gonna be a big brawl...shatter like their bones." "...big brawl all over it" is a rebellion as robots seek emancipation, the King cake refers to being blessed by the grace of god or being endowed with a spirit, or envisioning god. "Bonnie and Clyde" means an overwhelming ambush, and the shackles line again taken in this context is self explanatory.
The 10001110101, in my musical opinion, probably just refers to or implies binary without actually being translatable. it fits the meter, and could be interpreted as the ultimate or supreme simplification of all things.
The royal hunting grounds to me implies trespassing, like eve and the fruit kind of trespassing. like it is saying to those who created and or profit from the robot situation that they had it coming all along for thinking they could play god.
The only thing i don't get is the robot lords of Tokyo. My best guess is that Clutch lost some bet with the band Robot Lords of Tokyo and promised to put them in a song. -
If you drop off the last "1", you get 314 (pi) in binary code. now lets all have some kool aide
-
Hey Dummies,
I hate to tell you this but it is simple musical theory. If you look closely the numbers are reversed just like the drum kick and snare trading back and forth. Very well written indeed! -
HOLY S*^#! That's the # that was written into the crotch of my underoos when I woke up in that abandoned building!
I KNEW I shouldn't trust Emmanuel Lewis, but I NEVER thought I'd wake up to find out that Clutch, my FAVORITE BAND IN THE WORLD, and THE FATHERS OF MY CHILDREN (and YES MOM, they ARE CHILDREN TO ME, whether they came out of the cabbage patch factory or a secret bulgarian genetics lab, so STOP TRYING TO CONTROL ME; I'M NOT A ROBOT!)
Oooh, speaking of Bulgarian robots, who wants some CHEESE?!
Also, stay outta my shed, clutch! It may b a shed 2 u, but it's HOME to me; and if you don't want to hear peoples idea's about the meaning of a song(even if the band has already told you what THEY meant, then don't come to a "Lyrics Interpretation" web site.)
Snuffle-Ufigus! -
Apache helicopters don't carry .50 calibre machine guns, you pinko!
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

Anyone notice the "Temples of Syrinx" refrence? Isn't that Rush's thing from their 2112 album?
"Temple of Syrinx having the bake sale of the year."
Doesn't make any sense, because Rush describes the Temple as a place of superb technology, so advanced, that they no longer feel the need to create music.
Further inspection showed that "In Greek mythology, a syrinx is a water nymph. Temples are ascension symbols and are regarded to be closer to the gods with their height. In this song, the priests' system is computerized, a reality envisioned by Peart in the 1970s."
Not sure if this helps anyone make any sense of this, but I do know that there is no way Clutch thought of that temple name arbitrarily. Rush holds that origin pretty spot on. -
to fully understand its true meaning you need to be on the drug dxm. and listen to the whole album (robotic hive exodus) think about it the whole thing is about (robo-tripping) all the signs are there. when your (not) trippin you use only half of your brain(half a mind to double up baby). but when you are trippin your brain uses both sides to try and figure out whats happening(center peice of mind) center because both sides are in use.

its a phone number that you are not (allowed) to call. but if you use a cell phone that is not active, you will be directed to the american roaming network. make a collect call to 1000111010110001110101. it will jam it up. let it keep saying what it says. then it will tell you to please hold. it will then transfer you to a phone company near you. im a mild hacker and phreaker(phone hacker) ive been working with this code for weeks now.

Ribonucleic Acid (RNA) is the genetic material of the retro-virus, and thus "Ribonucleic acid freak out, the power of prayer" explains an out-of-control virus spreading, and people are praying for the power of God to save them.
"Long halls of science and all the lunatics committed there" is a continuation of the previous line, describing the people in labs trying to find a cure and how the power of the cure these people have is driving them crazy. -
Well, the phrase, "Periodic table with a center piece/peace of mind." seems to have "piece" to me. That would cause it to be a pun, calling the periodic table a literal table, with a center piece. That proves this irrelevant.
Robot Lords of Tokyo, the band.
Temple of Syrinx, referring to the woman who was turned into water reeds, and these look similar to wheat, thus meaning that it is harvesting her as wheat and selling her off as food. Another joke.
Did you not know that the royal hunting grounds are always forbidden? refers to robin hood: men in tights, when the kid was hunting in the forest.
10001110101 Half a mind to double up, baby. Three times is jive. means that it is a problem with too many 1's & 0's.
Like them little bitty babies in the king cakes. refers to the Mexican equivalent of Cinco de Mayo, where cake is served and there is to be one woman and one man that find a toy baby in their slices, and they are crowned "king" and "queen" of the party.
Man alive the jive and lyrics, Radioactive, don’t come near it. Is describing a man so energetic, he's "radioactive". look it up, it's a term.
The shackles of automata will shatter like their bones. Is saying the uprise of the robots, showing real emotions rather than imitating them (automata, the theory of machines doing commands by the direction of numbers, nothing more, is broken from, and the robots become alive, the bone part which is contained in fossils).
Bonnie & Clyde the whole dome. Is in reference to the phrase, "open up the whole dome," which in turn is showing the story of Bonnie and Clyde and them being killed by--the cops I think?
If you wanted an in-depth analysis on this with
the assumption that it is completely random, I just gave it to you.
-J. R. McIntosh -
It's a song about hacking computers I think. All of the refrences are there i.e. "bake sale of the year" " ain't nothing you can do about it" "shackles of atomiton" "royal hunting grounds" etc. It's about a huge hack.
