Coldplay: Atlas Meaning
Song Released: 2013
Atlas Lyrics
Some saw the smoke
Some heard the gun
Some bent the bow
Sometimes the wire must tense for the note
Caught in the fire, say oh
We're about to explode
Carry your world, I'll carry your world
Carry your world, I'll carry...
-
I feel like the start is about certain things that people saw or heard as they passed , ‘some saw the sun ‘ I think is about when a tribute gets bitten in the neck by the baboons , the last thing she saw was the sun whilst peeta held her . Also the last thing mags saw was smoke when she walked into the poison . Some people would’ve heard shit fire the minute they died and some saw a bow being shot at them

"Some saw the sun. Some saw the smoke." There are some moments when you see the good in life and some moments when you see the bad.
"Some heard the gun. Some bent the bow" Through the years people found ways to kill or hurt others.
"Sometimes the wire must tense for the note" Sometimes times have to be rough to turn good in the end.
"Caught in a fire, say oh" The world can be so bad that it could be in a 'fire'
"We're about to explode" People are so tired of the world that they just explode or in other words, commit suicide.
"Carry your world" This person will try to block out all this sadness and pain from someone like a child or a loved one.
"Some far away. Some search for gold." People are constantly looking for gold or something valuable to live for.
"Some dragon to slay." People are looking for a challenge so they wouldn't have to think about the worst of the world.
"Heaven we hope, is just up the road." People are hoping that if they die, they will be in paradise.
"Show me the way lord, cause I'm about to explode." People want to die but want someone to show them a different way, too.
This just my interpretation but I'm not sure if its right. -
According to my interpretation - Atlas , the mythological carrier of sky (world) is upset by the unpeaceful environment of world.
The first stanza could be about the wars of different eras - guns and bending of bows . Seeing the sun is about the joyful times and smoke may be violence .
Atlas has no where to go but bound to see this menace which he can't take anymore and is about to explode .
.
He wants the world to live in peace without worry as long as he is carrying our world .
.
The second stanza is also about the complex ways of the humans .
Atlas wants to change the world and asks the lord to show him way or he's about to explode again .
Hope this was meaningful enough :-) ~ -
