Coldplay: Talk Meaning
Song Released: 2005
Talk Lyrics
I've been trying hard to reach you, cause I don't know what to do
Oh brother I can't believe it's true
I'm so scared about the future and I wanna talk to you
Oh I wanna talk to you
You can take a...

This song has a lot or meaning to me personally. I lost my brother on 9/11, my closest friend and confidant. Our daily commutes to work were spent talking. He was my best friend and I miss our talks greatly. I have since lost my job, lost my way and wish I had him here to talk, to offer some advice about what is now a cloudy future. I find the song a bit inspirational because I interpret the ending of it as the person finally gets his wish. He wanted to talk and the other person says, okay, let's talk. My wish is to talk and I hope someday, someway, somehow that wish will come true.

This is such a multi-dimensional song, Talk in it's literal translation would have to mean that there is a friend who we all have that we always ponder the future with, and the several uncertainties about it. But in another way, the song reaches out to those people who wander around feeling like they are completely a mess and all over the place, but they always have a home. Even when we are the most confused we still find a person we can connect with.
Memories are what we base our decisions off for the future, and we all want to get to a higher level in our lives, but sometimes trying achieve that goal of "climbing the ladder up to the sun" is just going to make our crazy lives less meaningful.
I used this song to make a point when I was in high school during a retreat so that the audience understood that no matter what we do in life, we never do it alone. -
My opinion is that this song is talking about isolation people feel nowadays and the special meaning of talking and generally contancting with each other.these days people stand in front of tv or the pc, their lives are really nervous and difficult...sometimes we, people forget the meaning of life!!so this song promotes us to "do sth that's never been done" or "write a song nobody's has sang"...this is the real life!!although people sometimes forget the real life meaning they are human...and they want to "talk" and contact..

This song is about the sadness felt at not having his brother (who I assume is dead) around to give him advice during a difficult time in his life. It's really sad and emotional and the guitar riffs emphasize the anguish and strong emotion.
-
I can relate to this song. It's clearly about trying desperately to talk to someone about something but they can never speak of what's on their mind because they can never get through to anyone, so they keep their feelings to themselves.
-
I think this song talks about a person who needs to let of some steam but has no one to talk to

The music video for "Talk" does not fit the real meaning of this song. The lyrics are not about finding a giant robot.
"Oh, brother I can't, I can't ge through.
I've been trying hard to reach you 'cause I don't know what to do.
Oh, brother, I can't believe it's true.
I'm so scared about the future and I wanna talk to you.
Oh I wanna talk to you..."
I think this song is basically about everything we've done wrong in this world. War, drugs, killing, etc.
Near the end of the song, the alternative chorus plays:
"So you don't know where you're going and you wanna talk?
You feel like you're going where you've been before?
You'll tell anyone who'll listen but you feel ignored?
Nothing's really making any sense at all."
The last line also proves the meaning. People aren't making any sense at all.
So basically, the music video really has nothing to do with the song. -
I think this song is about losing someone you really cared about. I think Chris wrote this song after one of the band members passed away and it was the guitarist. He wants to 'talk' but he can't get through to him through spirit.

I agree with the person above me I find this song so relatable as am sure many people do. However my interpretation of this song is like someone who feels isolated, and as you listen its almost structured like a councelling session. However I feel the main basis of this song is human need for communication.

Because this song strikes such a strong emotional chord with me, I feel completely unqualified to offer any kind of objective interpretation -- all I can do is explain my own particular bias, and the torrents of feeling that pass through me each time I hear it.
I am totally incapable of listening to this song without imposing my own story on it, that of an adult adoptee who has spent most of his life in complete denial about his lack of identity, and living in total fear of vocalizing these feelings out loud. I have always wrestled with the conflicting urges to share these deepest feelings with the world but at the same time not wanting to upset the balance of life as I've known it with my adoptive family.
Who knows what the exact inspiration for "Talk" was. Maybe an "official" interpretation isn't so important if a listener suddenly finds his or her own story been told back to them, particularly when they feel like an alien in their own life.
I am very grateful for this song.
"Are you lost or incomplete?
Do you feel like a puzzle, you can't find your missing piece?
Tell me how do you feel?
Well I feel like they're talking in a language I don't speak
And they're talking it to me" -
It seems to be a song about not relating to the rest of the world, and wondering what the future holds.
