    A person bored with their purpose on earth stuck in a modern society of complete consumerism with no "messenger". Instead of faith buying back nostalgia to make one happy just leads to emptiness with no purpose. Instead of finding purpose in the right place, we seem to look for it in the wrong way.

    I woke up today after dreaming of running through my life and the scenes were like a movie but through it all I was hopping from one scene to the next, I was in my youth but when I awoke the dream's scenes were so disjointed. I went through the dream again to remember it and gather what was to be learned by this presentation. The thought Collective Soul came to me. I wondered if I was given the dream in order to heal my soul.

    I think it’s the struggles in life that teach us the most. We all want love, companionship, contentment and depth of soul, and it’s typically adversity that teaches us how to love and give and find peace through it all. Sometimes I wonder how far do I have to run before I learn these things? Do I ever get to the other side and get to enjoy a depth of soul and to love others and a love for self or am I always striving and looking for more??? Do I ever find that place of love and peace and contentment?

    It's the theme song for the movie, "Varsity Blues". Essentially it's about working and sacrificing friends/family/relationships for a goal that he was told was valuable/useful. Once he achieved it,;he realizes maybe he wasted his time,and those very experiences relationships were more meaningful after all.

    I think its also about dealing with your mortality. "have I got a long way to run?" as you get older you understand the reality of your death better than when you were a child. how long will the rest of my life be.

    Simply, adulthood is not all it is cracked up to be. Let's buy back memories of who we used to be and how we used to live life. Adulthood is boring at times, but as kids we are running as fast as we can to 21 only to end up running the other way soon.

    This song is awesome!! :) it's about being young and impatient because you want to grow up. but the guy is saying enjoy youth because you have "a long way to run" in adulthood. (and being adult isn't all its cracked up to be)
