Craig Morgan: Almost Home Meaning
Song Released: 2002
Almost Home Lyrics
He was covered with the evening news
Had a pair of old wool socks on his hands
The bank sign was flashing "5 below
It was freezing rain an' spittin' snow
He was curled up behind some garbage...
-
I believe the song had a double meaning. Due to the fact the man was homeless, he had dreams of home wishing he could go there. The other meaning is that he old man truly was freezing to death and remembering his younger years, note "Haven't been that close since '55" it is him reflecting on his life and family. If he would have made it home in his dream, he would have passed on and gone "home" (heaven or whatever is your religions heaven-like place"
-
He wanted to be left there to die and go to heaven.
-
The old man was homeless and he wanted to be left alone to die because there was nothing left for hi.,
-
He was almost to heavenn.
-
This song is about a young man trying to help an old homeless man on a freezing cold night. The old man tells him to leave him alone because he was having visions of his old home and to leave him to die.
