Creedence Clearwater Revival: I Heard It Through The Grapevine Meaning
Song Released: 1973
I Heard It Through The Grapevine Lyrics
With some other guy that you knew before?
Between the two of us guys, you know I love you more.
It took me by surprise, I must say, when I found out yesterday....
-
Well of course it is about a guy who finds out through others ie the grapevine, that his woman is leaving him. Naturally he is hurt she is leaving but more hurt that she did not tell him first, but kinda made her getaway plans involving perhaps keeping their mutural friends on her side, while hiding it from him.
The coolest part though is the drum beat, it has a native american drumming sound. It reminds me of a feeling that i associate with the days where if you had a soul mate you would live and die for them, a time when love ran deep and when one would cuddle up with ones lover away from the snow and your lover meant everythign to you.
So this song to me is about loyalty and finding a true sould mate who loves you for you.
