Damien Rice: Amie Meaning
Amie Lyrics
Close to nothing at all
The same old scenario, the same old rain
And there's no explosions here
Then something unusual, something strange
Comes from nothing at all
I saw a spaceship fly by your window
Did...

This song is about a platonic friend of his whom he visited for a night because he needed to get out of his parents house. After his night staying at his friend's house feelings had emerged a little more on the romantic side. She had told him to lay down, focus on him, and stare at the stars through the bedroom windows. He slept in her bed, as she told him he would be (his mind jumped from being just friends to maybe we could have something more), but she ended up sleeping in her sister's bed who happened to be out of town. Reality check set in that they are still kust platonic friends. The next day he went home, and was more relaxed, and this song came from that night at his friend's.
