Damien Rice: I Remember Meaning
I Remember Lyrics
the first time that i saw
your head 'round the door
'cause mine stopped working
i remember it well
there was wet in your hair
you were stood in the stair
and time stopped moving
i want you here tonight
i want you...
-
The first part is very quiet and is sang by the girl. It sounds like a love song, she tells about how they met. It seems to be a "love at the first sight" encounter when she says "time stopped moving".
In the second verse, she says she wants to be with him, so I guess they are separated (by distance ?) but it sounds like she really loves the man she met that day.
Then Damien starts singing while the music changes. The emotion in his voice is very strong and amplified by the amazing instrumental background. This part of the song is about a feeling that is very difficult to put in words. When you miss someone you love, and all you obtain from loving this person is getting hurt... He is also very confused because he can't understant what she wants :
"and i wanna hear
what you have to say about me
hear if you're gonna live without me
i wanna hear what you want
what the hell do you want?"
He almost gets crazy in the end and the music makes us feel how intense this feeling is.
I love this song, the end gives me chills and so much emotions... It's sad but beatiful.
