Danger Mouse: Two Against One Meaning
Two Against One Lyrics
I keep my enemies closer than my mirror ever gets to me
And if you think that there is shelter in this attitude
Where do you feel the warmth of my gratitude
Ah I get the feeling that it's two...

i agree the narrator is feeling strong self loathing, not helped by being in a negative relationship where the other person is also down on them. The positive line, however, is "Lucky for me, I'm not the only one"--which means others are coping with this or have gotten out of these feelings/relationships, so the narrator may as well. Like they say,"Where there's life, there's hope".

Just a comment on whoever said "i think" it's f*%$ing bullshit y'all are dumb for INTERPRETING this song in this way!!!! Key words of your own..."I think" you have the right to do so and so do we all. And the word INTERPRETING is the view of each individual! Soooooo.... I think they can all be correct! Duhhh!!
-
Sounds like he is having an inner battle with himself and the addition of someone else verbally attacking him means nothing because he is already beating himself up ending in defeat. Regardless of the many interpretations--- it is nicely written in its deliverance

I normally dont read into lyrics much. but i have to wonder if this song is even a little bit based off someone with a personality disorder. i struggle badly with mine so wen i 1st heard this i related deeply cuz i cant ever control it or myself even drugs any drug is a huge issue so wen im feeling somewhat less congested in the head and more like real me (who is with all intent a good rational thinking person... at that point in time)so i sabatage myself wen i feel more like my true self cuz i know it never lasts long ado pilot kicks in and im gone again. not fun very lonly def dont socialize. that my interpretation
-
Ughhh I think it's just fuckin bullshit y'all are dumb for interpreting that kinda precision on this song. You are wrong buddy.

the main chorus gives it away- the main character has this inner conflict ' i'm already fighting me- so what's another one?'
He's got this inner conflict, so what difference does it make if someone else is against him?
Mirror- his own self is a cause for this self degredation and the other person's mouth being a gun is the means to establish undermining of self already within. compounds it. -
If you look at the clip, you see visions of war and 3 people talking. I agree with the previous anonymous, and that words lead to war and horrible things. Like something you can't stop because you're a part of it, so you're fighting yourself and the other. I'm curious what the background of this song is.

The lyrics 'it's just you and me against me' stands out from the rest. I think it means that the person doesn't like his life. Also, 'the mirror is a trigger' is saying that he doesn't like what he sees about himself either. The world is against him, as he is with it as well.
