Dave Matthews Band: Christmas Song Meaning
Christmas Song Lyrics
She be his wife; take him as her husband
A surprise on the way, any day, any day
One healthy little giggling dribbling baby boy
The wise men came three made their way
To shower him with...

lol it's not about his "vices" he's saying how he (Jesus) loved Mary M. whole heartedly (not sexually) even though she was a prostitute, just how he loved (loves) everyone no matter their background... and as for "instead I fear I've spilt the blood of our children all around" I don't believe it is him being conflicted, it's Jesus realizing / seeing the human race fight over him and who he is / was (as the world still does to this day).

I think sometimes we put to much into how another person feels about something. Personaly the song hit home with me about the true meaning of Christmas. LOVE.

This song is about the life of Jesus Christ. From his birth, (hense the name) to his crucifiction

This song is a look into Jesus Christs life. In one of the verses he suggestes that Jesus Slept with the other Mary Magdalin (I dont think thats how you spell it). Mary Magdalin was a prostitute by trade. In another verse ("O when Jesus Christ was nailed to his tree he said O daddy O, I can see how it all son will be, I came to shed a little light on this dying place but instead I fear Iv spilt the blood of my children all around." This suggests that jesus Is conflicted about his effect on the Human race when crucified. The entire song is a look into Jesus personality and his vices. Several lines Dave Matthews sings about how Jesus was a Soul Searcher or a human like us and not the Son of God. In this song Dave Matthews see's Jesus as a person looking for love, usually from a women and I think Dave Mathhews relates to Jesus in this song.
Please edit this post, I wrote it hurredly.
