   On a front step and a car goes By with the windows rolled down and that ear sing is playing why can’t we be friends someone is screaming and crying in the apartment upstairs funny the way it is if you think about it one kid walks ten miles to school another’s droppping out funny the way it is if you think about it someone is going hungry and somone else is eating out It is ironic that bad tho ha are happening because of our presidents choices and we are listening to this song and you don’t even care

   This is about how if your life is going very well, you often forget about other people's problems. This is evident with lines like:
   "Somebody's going hungry, someone else is eatin' out"
   OR
   "Someone's house is burnin' down on a day like this"
   This song, along with the whole album, is deticated to LeRoi Moore, who sadly died from an ATV accident. Since then, Dave has cleaned up his act and written his songs about more than just drugs.

   Funny the way it is, is literally one of the most truthful and outspoken songs Dave has written. It is a more emotional album with the passing of the GrooGrux King (LeRoy). The song inspired from a self analysis and deeper uprooted irony of the world we live in.
   
   The song speaks of the evolution of humanity and how "funny" it is that life has changed so much but yet so much stays the same. Just to sit and ponder about what the meaning of life really is, if we suffer and hurt, and how our lives literally are an endless struggle for happiness, but yet there is so much anguish that comes from it.
   
   Dave usually is not as upbeat, but this song is upbeat with a very meaningful lyric set. Gotta love him!
