Dave Matthews Band: Where Are You Going? Meaning
Song Released: 2002
Where Are You Going? Lyrics
With the long face pulling down
Don’t hide away like an ocean
But you can see, but you can smell and the sound
Of your waves coming down
I am no superman not at all
But I have no answers for you
I am no hero, and that’s...

After reading and doing a literary analysis paper on a short story titled "Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?" by Joyce Carol Oates, I'm wondering if DMB got his inspiration for this song from her. This story is dedicated to Bob Dylan and specifically references a song of his in the paper (Baby Blue). This song by DMB could have a direct link to Connie, the main character.
Just a thought?

I think this song is pretty straight forward. Its about being there for someone you love. It's saying stop looking for comfort somewhere else I'm right here. Its saying I'm not perfect but you can go to me for help.
