    I think it's about her best friend Danny
    Also a song is written about him ~Mary's in India ...
    Or it's about a close friend who is going through severe depression of a break up or loss of some sort

    I get the impression that this is about someone who's love has died, and their friend is helping them move on. The references to "mourn" and "wearing black" make me think this is not just a break-up song.

    I get the impression that this song is directed towards a guy who's split up or lost the love of their life and unable to show face for it.
    "you said one day of this was worth dying for" signifies how he should "be thankful [he] knew her at all" and to look on the brighside and turn over a new leaf.
