Dido: Thank You Meaning
Song Released: 2000
Thank You Lyrics
I got out of bed alone
The morning rain clouds up my window
And I can't see at all
And even if it'd all be grey
Put your picture on my wall
It reminds me
That it's not so bad, it's not so bad
I...

#1 top rated interpretation:First, I want to say that this is one of the most beautiful songs in my life.
the meaning is very simple; it's just about how you brighten or made her day whether your a Best Friend/close friend or lover.
the verses describe how miserable her day is going; but at the end of each verse, you come in and change it all around.
Then in the chorus, she thanks you for giving her the best day of her life.
Simple as that, but very touching and sweet. -

#2 top rated interpretation:Yes this song is really good.. In my opinion the meaning of this song is about the fullness of her day with happiness even there`s a trouble and problem, the one He made her day with joy. So that`s the reason why she say "thank you". Because the fulness of her joy is depend upon him.

#3 top rated interpretation:I am widow, and this song has always touched my heart.
My interpretation is, no matter how sad I am, no matter how bad things are going, I can glance at or see pictures of my husband and find a little bit of happiness. An escape from my problems, even if it's just for a few seconds, by remembering a happier time with him. -
I always loved this song. But the first time hearing it after my granny passed away it was like hearing it for the first time because it had a whole new meaning to me. As most others have said, it’s about someone who can wash all the bad away and make see the good of it all. And watching the music video made it even more personal for me for how it reminds me of my granny. She was always the person who took the most care of me with just her gentle love and affection. She was the person I wanted to be with when I was not having a good day or feeling sick or anything bad. Her home was the only place I’ve ever considered MY home. It was the only place I knew I could always go no matter what and always feel like completely comfortable and safe. After she passed, we had to sell her home so the video reminds me of how hard of a time that was “losing your home” but I have so many memories, pictures, belongings, etc. of her that one look at those things and it’s like a reminder that I still have the most important parts of her with me. ❤️

I guess my interpretation is sadder than most. In this song, Dido states how miserable her day was, yet how thankful she is for the picture of her loved one. This song is notorious for being used in Eminem's own song "Stan", a song about an obsessive fan of Eminem's. In the song, Stan talks about the pictures of Eminem that he has on his wall and how they keep him going through life, despite it being miserable. Perhaps the song is about the loss of a loved one, having only their picture to comfort Dido. Dunno, that's just me.
