Duran Duran: Falling Down Meaning
Song Released: 2007
Falling Down Lyrics
He thought nothing could touch him
But here and now it's a different storyline
Like the straw he is clutching
Why has the sky turned grey
Hard to my face and cold on my shoulder
And why has...

Perhaps its because of the timing of the song's release, but I consider this the definitive song about The Great Recession
You can envision the character thinking these lyrics as he's losing his job, his home, and his self respect, knowing he can't stop his destruction, hoping that there's"somebody out there to help me." -
If you watch the video in conjunction to the song it looks to me like this song is about how damaging fame is to the famous and how people do self-destructive things to make themselves look better on the outside, and yet on the inside their on a collision course. Also, when the famous let the drugs and alcohol take over, unlike you and me, their mistakes get splashed all over page 6 of people magazine and the cover of Vogue. They end up making fools of themselves in public when they're wasted and they become a laughing stock....falling down in front of the whole world.
