The Reflex Lyrics
The Reflex
The Reflex
You've gone too far this time
And I'm dancing on the valentine
I tell you somebody's fooling around
With my chances on the danger line
I'll cross that bridge when I find it
Another day

Actually, I need to correct that some after reviewing the lyrics again.
Its about male ejaculation or sexuality in general...
Whether it be quick or "helped out with a hand" or kept "on the edge" and if you’re left with a "question mark"...I hope she is not pregnant...
Anyway...they may have been drunk, but im sure the meaning of the lyrics is a montage or collage of male sexual identity surrounded by groupies enticing the...um, reflex.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

I think "The Reflex" was merely a bunch of random phrases put together one evening at a bar. I wouldn't read into the meaning too much.

This song is about cocaine. "Why don't you use it try not to bruise it" (ever seen someone with their little baggy? they hold it like it was made of glass) "buy time don't lose it" (buy some more). "Dancing on the valentine" - heart palpitations/increased heart rate. And then the selling of stuff to get money (Renior and TV set), "high time is no time for deciding".. etc. "Lonely child waiting in the park" - the kid you buy it from.
Looks like the answer to me. Maybe I'm crazy though -
I believe this song is about the reflex in us all. Like the spontaneous reaction you get when something surprising comes up. The instinctive in mankind. A referral to the reflex-test is "try not to bruise it", as if you were to bruise your knee. "By time try not to lose it", as you grow older you get slower. "Every little thing the reflex does leaves you answered with a Question mark" - you get caught by surprise of your reactions. The video also relates to snappy reactions.

It took a lot of concentration, but I believe THE REFLEX is urge of someone addicted to drugs. Phrases like; (1) you"ve gone too far this time.2 Somebodys fooling with my chances on the dangerline. 3HIGH TIME is no time for deciding if I should need a helping hand.4 I Sold the renior, and tv set, don't want to be around when this gets out. 5 Im on a ride and I want to get off,but they won't slow down the roundabout. Think about it in a junkies state of mind. B.B.

At first, this song seems to have a very deep concept, but really the band just recorded it over a couple of bottles of wine. Simon LeBon himself said he has no clue what it means. Nonetheless it's a really great song (one of my favorites)
