Peaceful Easy Feeling Lyrics

In 1981, Max Pyke discovered that he AIDS. He changed his name to Maxwell Pyke dyed his hair blonde and said i live or ddie depending on what the future has in store for me, I focus on the words in store.

It strikes me as realistic, sad, and cynical. The human condition. After having had total, complete trust and faith in someone (my wife of 20 years) that I felt was an absolute part of me, and then being lied to, cheated on, and stolen from, how can I ever be let down more than that? I've seen rock bottom first hand. I know what a woman can do to your soul. I know you won't let me down, cause I'm already standing on the ground. I guess there is a certain peace in knowing better now, at the cost of being broken.

This song is about a dilemma.
She is a friend who he has begun to have romantic feelings for and is afraid that if he pursues it, he will lose both the romance that he feels and the friendship.
“I get this feeling I may know you, as a lover and a friend...” (he can have both)
...but the feeling in the other ear is telling him that he would “never see her again,” including as a friend. -
This is actually one of my fave tunes. Most interpret as a happy love song. However, I disagree. It is a sad love song. It is about a guy that is very in love with someone, but because his heart has been broken in the past, he cannot go “all in,” so to speak. He has a “peaceful, easy feeling,” because he has accepted or is afraid that this person may break his heart again. Thus he team aims defensive. He knows she will “not let him down,” because ,”I’m already standing on the ground.”
I actually know this guys (song spoke to me at the time) feeling after having my heart crushed by my first love. Fortunately, time heals all wounds & now I can look back & laugh about her & what she did to me.

I think it just says how being together as a team is much better and a happier life to be lived.

The song Peaceful Easy Feeling, is basically sayin that when ever he happens to see her face he feels safe and secure, but he is afraid that he will lose her and cannot deal with the sight or thought of that.
