Eagles: New Kid in Town Meaning
Song Released: 1976
New Kid in Town Lyrics
Great expectations, everybody's watching you
People you meet, they all seem to know you
Even your old friends treat you like you're something new
Johnny come lately, the new kid in town...

Love is fun at first and exciting. Guy gets bored. Starts looking around. Leaves girl that is crazy for him. She finally moved on and finds a replacement. Grass isn’t greener for the guy so he comes back just to find he lost a good girl to the new guy/kid.
-
New kid is about just that, new kid that everyone talks about and he finds love. Maybe for the first time in his life and that there’s another guy who is jealous but everyone loves the “new kid” so they protect this kid until somebody new comes around.
-
This song is actually about Hall and Oates. They were the new popular band in town. The reference to Johnny come lately is a reference to John Oates.

As I was listening to it, I thought it may be about a man who had to leave his girlfriend due to deployment. He seems to be worried that During his absence the distance will make her heart grow weak. Now, it sounds as though he has heard some rumors about her spending a lot of time with some guy who just moved into town. I think he's referring to himself as the "johnny come lately," for when he returns she'll already have moved on; even if he returns from the military a changed and new man- a"new kid" of sorts in town, that other new kid had moved in on his girl, and he was gone just too long to have prevented it
-
The song is about being in a relationship and realising that he lover will love him until he runs out of money, fame or interesting things in general. Henley is trying to say that a person will have all the attention until he runs out of money or fame etc.
-
Whoever said it was about Obama is really, really dumb. This song was written in 1976...Gerald Ford was president, Obama was only 15.
-
It just talks about what it is like being new, and finding your place in life finding someone to love and try as you will, but you will never be part of the system and just the new kid, till someone comes and gets the fame and love, then you will be just someone.

Based in my understanding, it is about the Pope or the beast.
(Rev. 13) "her" refers the whore of the Babylon, the Roman Empire. The Roman Empire is the queen of fornication. Just imagine while listening, the new kid in town refers to the Pope. -
It is about Obama.. I think

The Song is about Bruce Springstien and his arrival on the LA music secene, the band percieved Bruce as the newest and unwanted threat to their throne. At the time they didn't really rate him as a stayer in the industry. Of course he was and is very popular and still huge.
But hey so are the Eagles.
