Evanescence: Anywhere Meaning
Anywhere Lyrics
And dear my love, haven't you longed to be free
I can't keep pretending that I don't even know you
And at sweet night, you are my own
Take my hand
[CHORUS:]
We're leaving here...

#1 top rated interpretation:To me this song is just basically about forbidden love. You can look at it in three ways, two women in love, two guys in love and two teens who's parents don't want them together. It can be compared to Romeo and Juliet because that by far is the famous Forbidden love story out here but mainly it's just about forbidden love and being with each other by escaping those who judge you and hate what you are doing.
-
it's all dying.."so by the morning light we'll be halfway to anywhere"..i love this song so much..it touches my heart..

Evanescene's Anywhere in general is about taking chances with someone special, a lover possibly. You have to break boundaries to be together and when you do, you get to feel that it's worth it.
It can also be about the mutual love of two people that is not approved by others or perhaps even forbidden, so the couple could escape into their own world because they're not supposed to care what everyone else thinks because only their love truly matters.
They don't have to pretend in front of others of their true feelings, don't have to keep secrets in order to commit completely to their relationship.
It can also be an assurance about taking a step forward in a romantic relationship, to let go of the pain experienced and to not have regrets about the past and present. -
I think the song is about a young girl who can't be with the person she loves cause her parents don't like him so they forbid her from seeing him but in the end he asks her to leave with him to somewhere they can be together forever
-
I believe that this song refers to Amy dreaming about a person that she loves, but they can't be together in the real world. She says throughout the song that she is sleeping/dreaming ("And at sweet night, you are my own"). It seems to me that it is almost a "Romeo & Juliet" song. Very lovely.
-
Its not just about Romeo and Juliet. Its about any two people who love each other and well people dont understand their true love. So the girl suggests that they should run far away to a place where they cant see us!
-
It's about Romeo and Juliet.
The line "I can't keep pretending that I don't even know you" really gives it away. Juliet had to keep pretending as if she didn't meet Romeo. Also, "No one knows who we are there" is a clue; both Romeo and Juliet belong to two different families, well-known families at that, and everyone knows which one they belong to.
So, yeah. -
This song's about two young lovers running away together. Sort of like a Romeo and Juliet kind of story.
"Forget this life, come with me, don't look back you're safe now." My bets are that the relationship wasn't accepted by anyone but them, so their only choice was to run away. Anyway I love this song so much, it's just so touching. -
To me this song is about running away from people who don't understand the love between two people.
"Dear my love, haven't you wanted to be with me
And dear my love, haven't you longed to be free
I can't keep pretending that I don't even know you
And at sweet night, you are my own
Take my hand "
Longed to be free from the oppression of those who don't quite get how you feel. And if you have to spend your days pretending not to know your love except by night? Hell I'd run away too! -
I think it's about being able to be with who you want to be with.
-
It's about amy being with someone she loves in a place where no one wants them to love each other (e.G parents might not like the other person) so she writes him a letter to leave this place to somewhere where you don't need a reason to love each other.
