Evanescence: Weight Of The World Meaning
Song Released: 2004
Weight Of The World Lyrics
like God in heaven gave me a turn
don't cling to me, I swear I can't fix you
still in the dark, can you fix me?
freefall, freefall, all through life
If you love me, then let go of me
I wont be held...
-
To me it is about always being perfect for others. Feeling like you have to save or help people all the time. However in the song she is saying that that was the old her and that that person is dead. She wants to leave her old life behind and to that the people that love her must let her go.
-
I think this song is about how someone is in a bad way of some kind (Let's say alcoholic) and she tries to get help but the drink is calling her and wants her to give in. But she refuses to back down and give in, and it's hard to let go because they are adicted!
And basically wants this addiction to let go of her! -
This song is about How Amy feels. Amy's been through a LOT of things, so she writes songs abut them. So, mostly young girls write to Amy, telling her their problems, and so Amy feels burdened because she can't help them. Therefore, she feels as though the weight of their problems is sort of holding her down. Hence "Weight of The World".
-
I forgot where I saw it, but Amy said the song was about how people take the band's songs a mite too seriously and base their lives around them, like suicide and the like, and how it bothered her.
-
It s a plea to her fans who expect comfort to her goth music but she says if they really love her they should let go those depressing feelings and music cause she has a new perception of life...
-
I guess it's about a person who is depending on(right grammar?) the 'talker' and gives her much responsibility, but she can't bear it and tells the person that the weight is too heavy and the person should let go off her if that person really loves her.
Or the talker was everything the person wanted her to be, but she says, that her old self is nothing to her anymore, so the person should let her live her life. -
I think the song is about trying to break away from a negative relationship. The other person wanting to stay the way they are and wanting the narrator to 'fix' them. The narrator wants to change for the better and move on
-
I feel this song is about letting go of the past. Then again, my interpretation is most likely going to be off, as usual. What do you guys think?
