Fall Out Boy: Yule Shoot Your Eye Out Meaning
Yule Shoot Your Eye Out Lyrics
Don't take my advice
You never wanted the nice boys anyway
And I'm of good cheer 'cause I've been checkin my list
The gifts you're recieving from me will be:
1. Awkward silence and
2. Hopes you cry yourself to...

#1 top rated interpretation:A breakup song/a bitter feelings song set around the holidays of course. Essentially in this song the boy is writing to their ex lover about how they truly felt about the other
"These are your good years
Don't take my advice
You never wanted the nice boys anyway
And I'm of good cheer 'cause I've been checkin my list
The gifts you're recieving from me will be:"
This is basically the narrator telling their ex lover to get on with their life and to stop worrying about him. He's saying that he has been happy since they broke up and he's basically telling her what to expect in the future.
"one awkward silence, and two hopes you cry yourself to sleep staying up waiting by the the phone"
Things such as interaction such as conversation will be awkward as they aren't together anymore. He is saying to their ex-lover to not expect them to call them again no matter how heartbroken she felt.
"Happy new years, baby
You owe me the best gift I will ever ask for
Don't call me up when the snow comes down
It's the only thing I want this year"
He's probably sarcastically saying baby as if they were still together. HE got the best gift from her, which was the breakup, and again he is telling her to not contact him, as he repeats what will happen if she does.
"Don't come home for christmas
You're the last thing I wanna see underneath the tree
(Don't come home for christmas)
Merry christmas, I could care less
Don't come home for christmas
You're the last thing I wanna see underneath the tree
(Don't come home for christmas)
Merry christmas, I could care less"
He's telling her to leave him alone, he doesn't want to see her around the holidays, but he is wishing her happy holidays regardless but he honestly could not care what happens to her.
This is my interpretation, could be wrong, could be off, hope you enjoy it though. -
Super easy interpretation.....one of my faves...but I got the most hilarious "remix" of it
okay so the song begins normal and the first time the word christmas is said, the song sorta crashes and pete goes,"uhh.. patrick? joe's jewish." then patrick goes, "oh crap." then the song begins again and every christmas type thing is switched to hanakuh[sp] stuff.
ex:"Don't come home for hanakuh[sp]
You're the last thing I wanna see underneath the menorah."
LMAO! in joe's words, "it's f*cking rediculous." -
I think it's fairly simple.
The guy in the song just broke the girls heart and knows it, but he doesn't care, and she keeps calling him. It's during Christmas so he's saying 'don't call me when the snow comes down', implying that she did, and he just wishes she would go away and leave him.
I have to say, this is a very good song, one of my faves! -
I loved listening to this song. Patrick's voice sounds so comforting even though he's telling this girl to not come back because he basically hates her.
-
This one is easy. Whoever wrote, not sure if it's Pete or Patrick or both, was heartbroken around the holidays! DUH! "Don't come home for Christmas/ You're the last thing I want to see underneath the tree/ Merry Christas/ I could care less." Not to complex to be picked apart!
Thanks,
