Foster the People: Ruby Meaning
Ruby Lyrics
She was sitting really nice
With a head full of advice from friends
She walks around

Mark Foster has told that it was about a middle age single working mother, and her perspective of life. How hard it is to be a single working mother with two sons.
But Mark sings "She got a call from a guy
Just seeing if she’s alright" and later "Yeah you’ve got time to figure it out,
I’m here so don’t be scared." and is singing in the chorus "But I say Ruby, Ruby, Ruby" as in Mark our another person is singing a song for her. So it's not just about Ruby, it's about a guy how will never leave her. He will always be there for her.
Ruby is a fighter and Mark Foster has told that this is his favorite song. So I think he dedicates it to someone.
